Cannes Lions 2022 : The city of Cannes sells its heritage, in the form of NFT
NFTs, Non-Fungible Tokens (a unique digital token), act as a certificate of authenticity or a deed of proof confirming that a digital asset is unique and not interchangeable. An NFT can never be modified, adjusted or stolen, thanks to the principles of cryptography
The city of Cannes, first French and European city to invest in the Metaverse
During the Cannes Lions, from June 20 to 24, 2022, the city of Cannes will auction its emblematic sites… in the form of NFTs.
Sites available for sale include the world famous La Croisette, the Old Port, the island of Sainte Marguerite, the marine eco-museum, the Malmaison, the Forville market, Le Suquet, the Port Canto, the Pointe Croisette and the Georges Méliès Campus.
An 11th site and NFT, as yet to be revealed, will be offered to a resident of Cannes during prize a draw.
10% of the proceeds from these auctions will be donated to the Cannes Donation Fund, which finances environmental actions.
