2020 has been an economic and social catastrophe for the global tourism industry. With this in mind, the city of Cannes<\/strong>and the Palais des Festivals<\/a><\/strong>have put in place a new strategy entitled \u2018Cannes R\u00e9silience\u2019 with the aim of reversing this negative trend.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In normal circumstances the Palais des Festivals<\/strong> plays host to dozens of conferences throughout the year however the dramatic events<\/strong> of 2020 have led to the loss of approximately 700 million euros which represents 73% of its\u2019 annual turnover.<\/p>\n

The cancellation of one conference after another and the monumental drop in international visitors has led to a 60% reduction in hotel<\/strong>occupancy in the same period compared to 2019.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

In collaboration with local business leaders and professionals<\/strong> in the tourist sector<\/a><\/strong> the initiative has been working since last November to develop innovative and pertinent strategies. Based on feedback from conference and event organisers and their participants,<\/p>\n
