On Friday 9th October, Reed Midem announced the rescheduling of Mipim 2021. The annual international real estate market will now take place from the 7th to 10th June instead of the previously planned dates in March. A combination of potential ongoing travel restrictions and quarantine rules connected to the Covid-19 pandemic has led to this decision.
Having canvassed their participants the overall feedback appears to show that clients are keen to return to Cannes to meet and network again however this must take place in an environment of safety and ongoing confidence. Here at Button we support this decision and, like Reed Midem, we hope to see improvements in the worldwide health situation so that we may all feel able to travel and get back to business in the ‘new normal’.
We look forward to welcoming clients, old and new, back to Cannes next summer when the sun will shine and outdoor events and activities will be high the agenda.
The Cannes Film Festival, organised in collaboration with the City of Cannes, is the hope that the event sector is regaining its momentum. The Festival will take place in a different form, part of the Cannes 2020 Official Selection will be presented during the event.
A triumph by Emmanuel Courcol with Kad Merad, will open the Festival and will end with the preview of Les Deux Alfred by Bruno Podalydès, in the presence of the director and main actress Sandrine Kiberlain.
A real treat for the cinema and events secteur! We hope that this approach will make it possible to resume the normal course of events and that the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 11 to 22, 2021.
Like most events this year, ILTM organiser, Reed Exhibitions, has announced the postponement of the physical exhibition until next year. Here are the dates:
– Asia-Pacific 17/18/19 November
– Europe, Middle East and Africa 23/24/25 November

Reed Midem, organisers of Mipcom, have announced that the annual October television market and conference will be held exclusively online. The physical version of Mipcom was due to take place in Cannes on October 12-14 but was today cancelled.
Despite changing the concept of the event in an attempt to make the market coronavirus-compliant, removing exhibition stands from the Palais and rebranding the market as Mipcom Rendezvous Cannes running alongside a digital market, the pandemic has once again impacted an attempt at market recovery.
Ongoing uncertainty around Covid-D19 and recently increased travel restrictions make the physical event unviable and have forced Reed Midem to admit defeat by cancelling the event for the first time in its history.
We await to see what will happen with Mapic, the international retail property event also organised by RM, which is due to take place from 17th to 19th November.
Yesterday was the opening day of the tradeshow for business tourism and events. United and confident professionals met at the Palais des Festivals, which has received an official approval rating for ‘Sanitary Security’ by the Socotec group. Compulsory mask wearing and hydroalcoholic gel available throughout the venue, clear signage as well as regular announcements reminding participants of the precautions to be respected meant that the Palais felt like a safe and well managed environment.
At last we feel confident and positive about the future of upcoming exhibitions!
The exhibition, organised by Weyou Group, will take place from November 24 to 26, 2020. Approximately 1800 participants are expected for this, the 7th edition! Workplace meetings aims to promote face to face interaction between its’ participants, an interesting idea in this period of health crisis. We know that Weyou Group will be taking all the necessary measures in terms of health security so that the exhibition can take place under the best conditions!
This years’ event will be particularly important in view of changing requirements in the work place and the new trend towards working from home.

A digital on-line event, Mipcom Online +, will run from October 5 in parallel with the physical event.
